Then Jesus told His disciples, "If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." -Matthew 16:24-25

10 Months of Celebrations in Rwanda

These are the big celebrations (at least the ones we remembered to take pictures of) that you guys missed over the past 10 months.

Our One Year Anniversary

Still new to the area, we were able to find a tasty Indian restaurant that had a charming setting and an amazing view of Kigali.

and by "charming setting", I mean a big circus tent with giant chandeliers

 My Birthday

Matt surprised me with flowers and tasty homemade fajitas!

beautiful candlelit dinner (not yet on the table obviously)
homemade tortillas!

Zanzibar

We got to take a one-year honeymoon trip to Zanzibar and it was GORGEOUS! We got to go scuba diving, deep sea fishing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming in the clearest, bluest water we've ever seen, and just relax. We couldn't have asked for more.

Matt got to eat some fresh escargot

We were greeted with champaign and fresh
fruit when we arrived. We felt so fancy!

This was the view from our room

exploring the winding narrow streets of Stone Town

phenomenal beaches

Matt's big catch - WAHOO!!!

We got to explore the beautiful tide pools in the mornings

Christmas Decorating

This was such a fun experience to get to share some of our Christmas traditions with our Rwandan friends. As you can see, we didn't spring for the fancy freestanding tree, but this one was just as fun!

Matt and James hanging lights

Obviously, there are some things we missed pictures of, like our delicious Thanksgiving dinner that we had with our church family, and our Christmas trip back to the States to see our families, but this is a glimpse of our past 10 months.
